About me
Welcome to my website. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Auburn University. I received my PhD in International Relations and Comparative Politics from the University of Maryland-College Park in August 2016. My research has been published or is forthcoming in The Journal of Politics, International Organization, The Journal of Conflict Resolution, The British Journal of Political Science, Security Studies, The Journal of Peace Research, and Mobilization. I have also written about my research at the Monkey Cage and Political Violence @ a Glance.
In my research, I address questions related to international and domestic armed conflict and the military's role in national governments. I focus also on questions related to the onset and prevention of civil war, and the escalation of intra-state conflict to both civil war and non-violent protest. My dissertation on international conflict and military involvement in government was selected as the honorable mention for the Kenneth N. Waltz Dissertation Award by the International Security section of the American Political Science Association.
